JOSEPH (JOE) LARRY OBEREK February 4, 1927 July 6, 2016 Sadly we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather on July 6, 2016, peacefully with family by his side at the age of 89 years. Joe will be missed by his loving wife Anne of almost 63 years, his children Barb (Tracy) Barker, Wendy (Doug) Tkachuk, Karen (Kenny) Burke, Doug Oberek, grandchildren Amanda (Daniel) Cozart, Dallas, Riley, Raelene and many nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents Martin and Mary and sisters Helen and Louise. Since retiring from the post office 29 years ago, he enjoyed travelling, making wine, the casino, his computer, many different hobbies and especially family/friend get togethers. His sense of humour never disappeared. He always put others before himself and remained humble and kind. He saw many changes throughout his years and always tried to keep up with the times. Joe loved attending and watching his grandkids activities and sports. Special thanks to Dr. P. Cho for many years of care as well as all the staff at 4 South Grace Hospital and T. Goritz (NP). Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 10 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or The Grace Hospital.
