Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH NELSON (nee McLean) After failing health, Elizabeth Nelson passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 in the Riverview Health Centre's Palliative Care Unit at the of 85. Elizabeth is survived by her husband John of 60 years marriage, son Chris (Janice), grandchildren, Matt, Tyler and Dylan, son Paul (Debby), grandchildren Kassandra, Micaela and Hayden, and daughter Elizabeth, sisters Margaret Bender and Ethel (Gordon) Mundy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Elizabeth with her husband, as Salvation Army Officers, served 12 years in Canada at various times, 20 years in the Caribbean (Guyana, Panama, Barbados, Jamaica), and 12 years in South Asia (India, Pakistan Bangladesh, Sri Lanka). After retiring in Winnipeg in 1997, Elizabeth found great pleasure being with her family, volunteering at the Grace Hospital, taking up painting as a hobby, and being an active member of Southlands Community Church. A service to celebrate the life and ministry of Elizabeth will be held in the Salvation Army Southlands Community Church on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 85 Keslar Road, Winnipeg, commencing at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to the Salvation Army Partners in Mission Fund. The family would like to thank the WRHA Palliative Care program, particularly Trish, who gave wonderful support to the family during the months Elizabeth was ill.
