PETER PESTRICK 1962 - 2016 With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Diabetes, on July 6, 2016. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Chris; nieces, Tracy Murray (William Dixon), Sandra (John) Glenn; great-nieces, Imogen Glenn and Christine Murray; great-nephews, Samuel Murray and Alekzander Dixon; great-great-niece, Serrena Colomb; aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Peter was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) (Sawchuk) on March 30, 2001, and his father Peter Pestrick on July 5, 2003. Peter was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 12, 1962. He grew up spending lots of time with his family. From playing football on the lawn to setting up army men on the floor in the living room Peter enjoyed spending time with family having fun. He spent summers entertaining his nieces and took his goddaughter on special trips. He also enjoyed playing pool and won a tournament along with his brother and niece. He worked at a few different places: Mother's Pizza, Kitchen Craft and most recently Wal-Mart. Many thanks to the doctors and staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and kindness. According to Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Peter. He was my right hand man when I ran the sporting goods dept for a few years at Garden City Wal-Mart. We always discussed hockey and football during the seasons and I always razed him for being a Flyers Fan. He was a hard worker and had the gift of the gab. I always knew when Peter was because my sales for the total department were always up. He had the ability to sell and get the customers coming back on a regular basis. Even thou I transferred to a new location I always remembered Peter and his work ethic. A few years ago I returned to Garden City to do a training course and I stayed later after it ended just so I could say hi when he started his shift. A Great man, with a great heart you will be missed dearly - Posted by: Joel P (Co-Worker) on: Jul 17, 2016

  • I've been Peters friend since 1979 ,We hang out quite a bit together over last 35 years - Pete always had a fantastic personality and was probably one of the funniest guys to joke around with . He was a True friend who go out of his way to help people- even complete strangers- he was just that type of good person with a huge heart. There's really not enough words to describe what a great friend and person Pete was . I feel very badly I did not get to see him in his last days -as I was hospitalized myself for a while previously, and later when I phoned the hospital to enquire about visiting him -they told me only family would be allowed to see him...so I never even got to visit him in the hospital. But I wanted to leave my deepest condolences to his family -Brother Chris, his nieces, etc ... Pete was very much my best friend and will never be forgotten - Posted by: Rob Mazurek (Long-Time Personal Friend Of Peters ) on: Jul 16, 2016
