GLEN RICHARD HARGREAVES It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Glen Hargreaves on July 12, 2016 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his wife Darlene in 2015 and his beloved dogs over the years Pooch, Bernie and Jack. He leaves behind his children, John and daughter-in-law Caroline, Debbie (Dwayne), and Mike (Abbie); his grandchildren, Corey (Tracy) and Mandy; great-grandchildren, Seth and Jaxon. He also leaves behind Darlene's daughters; sons; and family and his ex-wife Patricia Rempel. Glen was born and raised in Winnipeg. He took culinary arts in the early seventies, then provided for his family by driving and owning taxi cabs into the 80's. He then met and married Darlene and began a new life becoming proprietor of Jads General Mart and Glendar Auto Sales in Arnes. After 25 years, Glen and Darlene sold the store and Glen went onto a well-earned retirement. Glen's interests included a love of music, he played in a band in the 60's and early 70's. His other interests included cooking, cars, dogs, and telling jokes. Glen loved his life out in Arnes and all the friends he made out there and at the Gimli AA. We would like to thank his neighbour Lorraine for all the help throughout the years. Glen loved all of his family as he watched them grow throughout the years. Funeral services will be held at St. Michaels R.C. Church in Gimli on Monday, July 18 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Wpg, MB, R3T 9Z9. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Gimli. Longer notice to follow in Saturday's paper. I remember Glen mostly as a child as I often visited Aunt Eva in Winnipeg in the 40's. I also met his Dad, Johnny Hargreaves, before he was sent to Hong Kong. I have a photo of Glen and me while we were watching a baseball game in Uncle Fred's yard ( Glen was about 10 years old, I was about 17...... Glen was always faithful in paying respects to our family members by his presence at funerals....it was the one time we could get together , tho' briefly.We always appreciated that he took time to show support for the family.
