THELMA GRACE HARRIS (nee HANSFORD) April 7, 1925 - July 14, 2016 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Thelma Grace Harris (nee Hansford), aged 91 years, who passed away peacefully on Thursday July 14, 2016 at Pinewood Court Nursing home in Thunder Bay, ON. Thelma was born in Winnipeg, MB, April 7, 1925. She is survived by her two daughters, Sue (Calgary), Judith Rybar (Jim); grandson Christopher Rybar (Cara); great-grandsons, Jude and Rhett Rybar; sister Shirley; brother Ab (Betty); numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by loving husband Lorne; son Robert; infant son Thomas; brother Bob; sisters, Eileen, and Kay and her parents. Thelma was raised in St. Boniface MB, and worked as a secretary until she married Lorne Harris June 17 1949. They spent many happy years together in Kenora, Thunder Bay; retiring in Sidney, BC. She enjoyed summers spent at Trout Lake, golf, curling, gardening, singing and playing bridge. Mom was very involved with Rotary supporting Lorne when he was District Governor. Thelma was very proud of the Paul Harris Fellow award with which she was honoured. Mom was a great volunteer during her lifetime, with her churches, hospital auxiliaries and numerous volunteer groups. Thank you to the doctors at Aurora Family clinic and the nurses at Thunder Bay Regional for their compassionate care during mom's hospitalization. In her final days she was well cared for by the staff at Pinewood Court. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice, the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. A memorial service for Thelma will we held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. Interment of her ashes will take place in Sidney, B.C. at a later date.
