Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED DELMONICO June 19, 1923 - July 4, 2016 It was with great sadness that we said goodbye to our dear dad, poppa, uncle Freddie on Monday, July 4, 2016. Peacefully, Alfred Delmonico passed away after having just celebrated his 93rd birthday at home on Father's Day this year. Alfred will be lovingly remembered as a truly great man by his daughters, Terri Andrechuk (Don), Denise Delmonico, Janice Delmonico Gibson; his son Perry Delmonico; grandchildren Tara Penner (Neil), Kevin Andrechuk (Toby Cygman), Landon Delmonico Gibson (Ian Scott), Lane Delmonico Gibson, Lauren Delmonico Gibson, Liam Delmonico Gibson; and great-grandchildren Nikolaus, Joseph, Xenia and John Penner, Mina Cygman-Andrechuk and Freddie Gibson Scott. Also remaining to cherish his memory are niece Rori Bruschinsky (Emanuel); nephew Dee Delmonico (Barb), and extended family and friends in Vancouver and Winnipeg. Alfred was born in Winnipeg on June 19, 1923. He married Beth, the love of his life, on September 4, 1946. Together, for almost 69 years, they enjoyed a rich life full of family and friends. Alfred loved people and delighted in conversations around the dining room table on diverse topics from the R.C.A.F. radar stations during the Second World War, being a young chef on the dining car of the C.N.R. Trans Continental rail line to the cooking and gardening he learned from "the best cook ever", his mother Teresa Delmonico. Alfred believed in keeping his mind alert. He loved numbers and always started his day with a challenging crossword puzzle. Alfred always had a sparkle in his eye. He dearly loved and delighted in his entire family. He was energetic, interesting and always passionate about life. His grandchildren were the love of his life and there was no doubt that he was so proud of each and everyone of them. Whenever we said "We love you, poppa.", he always promptly replied "Right back at you." These four words alone will remind us that he will always be the needle of our compass wherever we go in life. Alfred was an inspiration to those around him. He was graceful and kind. He always gave you his full attention and made you feel that you were the most important person in the world. The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors and staff of 4E and 5B of the St. Boniface Hospital for their attentive care of our loved one over the last few months. A private family memorial service will follow at Chapel Lawn. We love you, dad, poppa, uncle Freddie. Thank you for enriching our lives, stimulating our minds and for giving us the precious words, "Right back at you."

So very sorry to hear of Freddy's passing - the last of an amazing group of siblings and and a founder of a lovely family. He was always a kind and funny and sweet person. Bless him and you all. I wish we could have a reunion - for our kids and grandkids - try to replicate those memorable feasts on Sherbrook when Teresita was still making "chof" for dessert and your dad, amongst others, was holding forth :) Love to you all.
