DORIS IRENE PETERS Doris Irene (nee Pridham) Peters passed away peacefully, with her family present, at the D.E.C. Hospital in Fredericton on Wednesday July 13, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Isa (Whitehead) Pridham. Born February 15, 1926, Doris was raised in Fredericton and moved with her husband John B. Peters in 1951 to Winnipeg. There she was active as a member of the Silver Heights United Church and the Silver Heights Community Club. In 1991, following retirement from Manitoba Telephone System, she returned to Fredericton. Doris had three sisters, Dorean (late Ralph Estey) of Baie D'Urfé, QC; Pauline (late Ross Athey) of Winnipeg and Fredericton; Marjorie (late Ted Atkinson) of Fredericton; and a brother, Harry C. Pridham of Truro, NS. She is survived by her four sons, Robert J. Peters (Mary White) of Fredericton; Harry C. Peters (Bonnie Cheadle) with two stepsons, Walter and Jesse Spooner; David S. Peters (Rhonda Rubinstein) with son Dashel; and Alan H. Peters (Donna) with sons, Jesse (Michelle), Aaron and Brett; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Sawyer; as well as sisters, Dorean and Marjorie, and brother Harry. Mum was well known for her enthusiastic volunteering at Wilmot United Church. She thoroughly enjoyed practising tai chi at Wu's Tai Chi Chuan Academy with Martin and Mary Kennedy, and was much loved as a great cook who ran a tight kitchen. Visitation will take place at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday July 18, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19 at Wilmot United Church in Fredericton, with Reverend Ellen Beairsto presiding. Interment at Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension will follow at a later date. Doris is deeply missed by her sons, family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honour may be made to Wilmot United Church Capital Fund, Farraline Place or CNIB. www.mcadamsfh.com
