Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY RICHARD ALBERT PEACEY June 7, 1938 - July 18, 2016 Surrounded with his family's love, Dad passed away ever so quietly on Monday, July 18, 2016 at his home for the past two years, Golden West Centennial Lodge. He was 78 years of age. Left to lovingly remember Dad are his children Janice (Donnie), Kathy, Keith, Diane (Richard); step-daughter Maria; grandchildren Mathew (Amy), Drew, Trevor, Jason, Lauren, Evan, Avontay, Shyann Sydney, Andrew and Livia. Dad is also survived by his youngest brother Larry (Pauline) in British Columbia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he shared special times with. He loved them all. Also surviving Dad is his first wife Helen. He was predeceased by his second wife Pat; brother Kenny; sister-in-law Norma; and niece April. Our Dad lost his mother at the age of fifteen, and he transformed his adversity into lifelong qualities of strength, grace and kindness. He was employed at McMahon's Carpets for 44 years and he was extremely proud of his tenure. He had an unbelievable work ethic and passion for his job each day, with his polite demeanor and great sense of humor shining through. Sunday drives, going to the beach, dancing, curling, bowling, music (Elvis Presley) were some of the things Dad loved. Our Dad even sported the same hairstyle and sideburns as Elvis Presley! He was famous for belting out Love Me Tender when he was moved to do so and sang these words up until his last days. When Dad was in his early teens he was a talented football player and often wished he had pursued his love for the game. Our Father loved to travel and learn about different places. He travelled alone and later he was accompanied by his second wife Pat. In no particular order they visited Mexico, Graceland, Vancouver, Deadwood and numerous shopping and casino bus trips. He encouraged his family and friends to travel and have as much fun as he did. Dad had one more love, which was his family and he was the patriarch. All family members looked to him for his quiet strength and guidance. He loved family gatherings and it was here he enjoyed being the quiet host in the background. We will miss our "for sure" Dad. A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held on Sunday, August 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Victoria Community Center, 950 Sturgeon Road for family and friends. We cannot thank Wendy and her third floor staff at the Golden West Centennial Lodge enough. Many special caregivers provided excellent care for our Dad. They were there for Dad and were a great help and comfort to his family! Thank you to Dad's cousins Billy and the late Alec and his friends Helen and Eddy for taking him on many outings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
