Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNHARD DERKSEN April 10, 1943 - July 18, 2016 With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Bernhard (Ben) Derksen on July 18, 2016. Ben will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Helen, children Elizabeth (Renald), William, Theresa, and grandchildren Matthew (Stephanie), Megan, Jessica, Taylor, and Devin. Ben and Helen were foster parents for over 25 years and cared for over 100 children. He was born April 10, 1943 in Altona, Manitoba. His greatest joy was getting together with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up. He spent many summers enjoying his cottage and going fishing. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kuegle for his care over the years. A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital.
