PETRONELLA (NELLIE) MARIA DEKONING August 21, 1924 - July 24, 2016 With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our mother, Nellie, on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Concordia Hospital with her family by her side. We are grateful for her long life, but know that she is now at peace. Predeceased by her first husband Reg Smith in 1957 and her second husband Willie deKoning in 2000, she is survived by her children, Rita (Gerry) Michasiw, Reg (Shannon) Smith and Marian Watts (Murray Esler). She also leaves grandchildren, Lisa (Lionel) Ethier, Tim Watts, Jim Michasiw (Heather Monkman), Jared (Christine) Michasiw, Melissa Michasiw, Brittany Smith (Jason Garland) and Michael Smith (Nicole Hoffos). She will be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren, Riley, Kiara, Clarelle, Tristan, Jersey, Memphis, Brooklynn, Abigail and Matthew. Our thanks to Dr. Louis Smith, her longtime family physician; Dr. Pilat; and the nursing staff of Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care of Mom and our family. In keeping with Mom's wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, we will have a private interment and celebrate her life with our family in August. Should friends so desire, a donation to a charity of your choice would be a meaningful tribute to our mother's life.
