JACK DOW Jack Dow died peacefully on July 20, 2016, at the Russell Health Centre, Russell, Manitoba, just five weeks short of his 89th birthday. He was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, on August 29, 1927, the youngest son of the late William and Blanche Dow. He was predeceased by two sisters and one brother, Thelma, Doris and Glen. Growing up in Portage, he worked with his father in the winter fishing business on Lake Manitoba. In 1953 he moved to Russell to operate a store with brother-in-law Dick Wheatly. After ten years he joined Sun Life Assurance Company, continuing until 1984 when he purchased the Home Hardware store in Russell, Manitoba. Jack and Barb were married in 1954 and together they raised two sons and loved and enjoyed two special daughters-in-law, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jack's life was centered and built around his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Barb; sons Donald (Sherry) of Calgary and Garth (Glennis) of Clear Lake; grandchildren Aja (Ben), Jazlyn, Carly and Adam; and great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Miles. He also leaves brother-in-law Donald (Sally) Dick of Winnipeg and a host of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, very special neighbours and friends. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date. To honour Jack please do a random act of kindness in his memory.
