SVENN JULIUS TERGESEN
Date of Passing: Jul 22, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySVENN JULIUS TERGESEN 1958 - 2016 Svenn Julius Tergesen, age 58 years, died peacefully at home with his wife by his side, on Friday, July 22, 2016. Predeceased by his father Terry, brother Soren and first wife Pam. Svenn is survived by his wife Amy and stepchildren Jamie and Kevin, mother Lorna, siblings Stefan, Johann and Tristin, grandchildren Tanner, Alivia and Annabelle and many friends and family. Svenn grew up first in Gimli and then Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm, where he learned the art of small engine repair and helped his afi and lang-afi work on the farm machinery. He quickly became adept at fixing everything from cars and trucks to tractors. He took pride in painting, repairing and restoring vehicles. From an early age Svenn had a need for speed which started with racing a mini-bike with his uncles and brothers on a private course at his grandparents farm and then progressed to countless hours spent at the race track working as part of the team for several dragsters that raced in Gimli (now Interlake Dragways) and far beyond, enjoying many years of travelling the drag race circuit in Canada and the U.S. His passion for cars became Svenn's life long career and for more than thirty years he could be found behind the counter of his own automotive shops, ready to help solve his customer's problems from flat tires to blown engines. He was always there - on the other end of the phone - ready to help out when you needed him. Svenn enjoyed being a grandparent more than anything else and the last few years of his life were spent going on walks to the park and playing with the same hot rod replica toys of his childhood with his grandchildren, Tanner, Alivia and Annabelle. A service was held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in Gimli, MB. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society in lieu of flowers. He died when I was very young. A couple things I remember was working in his shop with him and watching cartoons sometimes at 4 or 5 in the morning. Me and him would go to the park and eat pop tarts. - Posted by: Tanner (Grandson) on: Aug 31, 2022
