Maurice passed away at the Victoria Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Left to forever cherish his memory is the love of his life and wife of 51 years Olga; son Kevin (Chavon); daughter Lisa (Ryan); brothers, Matt (Stella), John, Bill (Mary Lou), Eugene (Marian); and his sister-in-law Elsie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Maurice was predeceased by his parents Steve and Margaret; brother Mike; sister Anne Friend; sister-in-law Elsie Fostey and nephews Johnny and Dale Fostey. His special love was his family. Maurice and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii. While sitting at Starbucks having a green tea matcha I was inspired to write this poem. It's a tribute to a wonderful person. The poem is titled "A tear so sad". A tear so sad it breaks my heart to see a friend go Who with his gentleness remained with me forever Our thoughts crossed many times in silence A word never spoken but our touch very real If I could only hear his voice one more time knowing our friendship will last forever. - Posted by: Mel Schobel (Co-worker Gore Mutual Winnipeg) on: May 08, 2017

Dear Olga & Family, I write this with a heavy heart and a lot of tears. Looking at Maurice's picture brought back many memories reminding me of the times we worked together at the Gore Mutual. He didn't change much except for a little less hair. He had such a calm nature which helped me get through some rough days. He was one person I never forgot over the years. I always wondered if he remained in the insurance industry as it seemed to suit him. He was a dedicated worker and I am glad he made a career of it. I am 79 years of age and it's difficult saying good-bye to someone that has been with my thoughts over the years. I know he was a wonderful husband and father and his legacy will live forever. Good-bye Maurice, my friend. - Posted by: Mel Schobel (Co-worker Gore Mutual) on: May 08, 2017

I first met Maurice back in the very early days of MPI cc#1. Our paths then crossed several times over the years and, although we didn't associate in the same circles, I always regarded him highly as a "good guy". My sincere condolences go to Maurice's family in this difficult time. Chic Seabrook - Posted by: Chic Seabrook (Work colleague.) on: Aug 02, 2016
