JACK (JULIUS ISAAC) NEAMAN Jack (Julius Isaac) Neaman died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 23, 2016 at the age of 88. Left to cherish many memories are his loving wife Jo-Anne; his four children, Dale (Jerry Marcus), Barbara, Francie and Larry; five granddaughters, Blaire (Rob Bastress), Lexi, Gabrielle, Jillian and Alix; and two great-grandchildren, Arlo and Della Anne, and his former wife and good friend Lillian. He was predeceased by his parents, Luba and Morris Neaman; his sister Shirley; and brother-in-law Sam Shenkarow. Jack had a quiet, gentle personality and a ready, warm smile. He is fondly remembered for his love of family, friends and special relationship with his dog Zoey. Jack developed close relationships in business, boating and his synagogue, gaining respect and affection from all who knew him. These developed the foundation for his many enduring friendships. Jack's many passions included the Winnipeg Jets from the day they started in Winnipeg in the WHA and a bigger fan would be hard to find. Jack's biggest joys were his summers boating on Lake Winnipeg and his many years as Commodore of the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club. He was also a very devoted member of Shaarey Zedek Synagogue and as a past president of the synagogue was committed to its future. Jack called the synagogue his home away from home and he attended services daily. Jack's funeral was held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Monday, July 25, 2016. Honorary pallbearers were: Ben Berkal, Eric Green, Gerald Kalef, Jerome Phomin, Judy Pollock, Marvin Shenkarow, Eric Vickar, and Bill Weissmann. Pallbearers were: Hamish Barrit, Alain Clement, Sam Guralnick, Barry Shenkarow, Bill Stewart and Rob Swan. Should you wish to honour Jack's memory, the family has established the Jack Neaman Youth Programming Fund at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. (204-452-3711)
