MARY WILLIAMS (nee SMALL) April 13, 1927 - August 2, 2016 It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to our very much loved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, our wonderful Mary who left us on August 2, 2016 at 89 years old. Mom was born on April 13, 1927 on a small farm on what is now known as Garven Rd., to Dmytro and Annie Small (Roshick). She grew up there with her sister Jessie and Bill, all who have gone before her. She married Dad in 1946 in Winnipeg, they lived in Atikokan, ON, and Logan Lake, BC. Mom moved back to Winnipeg to be close to her family after Dad passed away. Mary was a very outgoing person, she had many friend's young and old whom she kept in touch with, many of these friendships lasting 50 years or more. She enjoyed bus trips to the casinos and made a trip to Israel with her friend Frances which was a special highlight for her. The past few years have not been kind to Mom, her health deteriorated and not being able to drive her car and be independent was very hard for her. We hope now she is able to dance again. Mom was predeceased by her husband Allan, her son Don, grandson Andy Hill and son-in-law Jim Hill, each passing took a little part of her heart but through it all she managed to smile and carry on. She leaves behind her daughter Barb, granddaughter Kim McNicholl (Cam), great-grandsons, Darien and Eric, grandson Michael Williams, daughter-in-law Dianna Williams and sister-in-law Cecile Small. I know Mom would like to thank all the staff at Park Manor Care Home for all the kindness and care she was given there for the last two years, and all the people who took the time to call her and visit her when she was there, it meant so much to her. Our lives will not be the same without her, she was our rock, we will miss her so much but will be eternally grateful for the love she gave each of us and for the special lady she was. In accordance with Mom's wishes there will be no formal service, she will be laid to rest in the Ukrainian National Cemetery in Springfield. Flowers are gratefully declined but if you wish, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be so appreciated. Although her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch, she will be with us forever for she was loved so much. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mary was a great lady, and a favourite of our mom's, who always enjoyed her visits to Dryden and visiting her in Winnipeg. She was a very kind lady and we all enjoyed her wit. She will be missed by all. Our deepest condolences.
