WILLIAM SMERCHANSKI August 17, 1922 - August 3, 2016 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, with his family at his side, two weeks shy of his 94th birthday. William was born and raised in Tolstoi, MB. He was the oldest of six siblings. William is survived by his five children, Shirley (Glenn), Gail (Nick), Randy, Sandra and Perry. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Cameron (Heather), Andrew, Jessica, Lee, Daniel, David and Kayla. William was predeceased by his wife Eileen in 2007 and brother Peter. After leaving the farm he served briefly during the Second World War Home Guard, stationed in Montreal. Afterwards he met Eileen and raised their family. During his varied career, he settled into police work, first with Brooklands serving as Chief then St. James and ending his 30 year career with the Winnipeg Police Motorcycle Patrol. After retiring Bill continued to be an active member of Legion 141. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Eternal Grace Funeral Home, 1111 Logan Ave., Winnipeg, MB, 204-505-4559.

We are sending our deepest condolences to all the family. We have been away from Winnipeg for sometime due to Military postings. We always enjoyed hanging around and talking to Bill over the years. Bill we be certainly missed as he was such a lovely human being and friend to all who knew him.
