STEPHANIE MARY ROMANEK (nee TONY) It is with deep sorrow that the family of Stephanie Mary Romanek announces the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on August 7, 2016. Mom passed away in her 88th year. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Thomas; daughter Carol Nuttall (Eric); grandsons, Andrew (Corinne), Ian (Jessica), and Steven (Anissa); great-grandson Noah; and sister Joan. Stephanie is predeceased by her daughter Diane; parents, Mary and Anton Tony; brother Stanley; and sister Louise. Stephanie was born on January 17, 1928 and grew up in Beausejour, Manitoba. She and Tom married on May 13, 1950 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Beausejour. Stephanie devoted her life to her husband and raising their two daughters. Later became very involved as a grandma to her three grandsons. Her interests included bird watching, reading, cooking, baking, her two dogs, and mostly her love for their cottage of 34 years. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Home at 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg with Father Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of Stephanie. Stephanie was very special to my Mom. Mom lived at the Toni's in Beausejour about the time Stephanie was born, they formed close bonds that lasted many years. I met her just a few times - a few times at the Steve Trojanowski farm or in Beausejour when I was very young and a few years ago during a trip to Winnipeg. She was a delight to share times and memories with. She was one of the last few members of a very remarkable generation of pioneers, homesteaders and business families that helped in each their own way in setting the foundations for the Canada we enjoy today. Our thanks to her and Tom for their devotions to families and friends.
