JOE KANDRAC After a long illness, Joe has now departed for that big drafting room in the sky. Joe was born June 10, 1930 and passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish his memory, Joe is survived by his wife Bernice; sons, Christopher and Kelly; daughter Lisa (Dean); precious grandsons, Nico and Lauran; sister-in-law Helene of Minneapolis; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both his parents, and his brother Steve. Prior to University, Joe attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. In 1954 he graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Architecture with a B.ARCH. Employed by Waisman Ross from 1954 to 1964 and Duncan Rattray Peters Searle from 1964 to 1966, Joe subsequently joined No. 4 Regional Construction Engineering Office; a Federal Design Agency of the Department of National Defence. His retirement in 1993 marked the end of a 39 year professional career. In his early years, Joe played the trombone in the U of M Varsity, Eagles Concert, and Laverendrye bands. He may also be remembered for his production of many farewell cards acknowledging the departure of members of the No. 4 Regional Construction Engineering Department. Joe may be described as being an ardent bibliophile who also treasured music of the early jazz era, particularly BIX and BIG T. In compliance with Joe's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Our family would like to say a special thank-you to the many medical professionals and the medical community who tended to Joe's care. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9, would be appreciated. To my cousins Christopher, Lisa and Kelly and their mother, Auntie Bernice. Although time has a way of ravaging memory and and the ties that bind, know that some bonds cannot be broken and, that my brothers and I deeply miss and will always remember our Kandrach family. Rest in peace Uncle Joe! May Baba and Gido, along with my parents Steve and Phyllis Kandrack hold you in the warmth of their embrace. Love, Mary-Anne Kandrack - Posted by: Mary-Anne Kandrack (niece) on: Feb 09, 2018

Bernice, please accept my condolences albeit somewhat late. Although I did not know Joe personally we must have shared some classes at U.of M. He had a long and fulfilling career. - Posted by: lucille pilutik (non) on: Dec 22, 2017

Bernice and Family: Bob and I wish to extend out heartfelt sorrow with the passing of "Mr. Kandrac". I worked for Mr. Kandrac at DND in Winnipeg and had the greatest respect for him. The kindness and respect he extended towards me has not been forgotten over the years since and he has often been in my thoughts. He was truly a different, kind and remarkable person. - Posted by: Pierrette Sparkes () on: Aug 20, 2016
