MARIA ROGERS On August 5, 2016 the life of a beautiful, kind and caring individual came to pass. We are heartbroken that Maria Rogers left us at the age of 80 years after a fierce battle with heart disease, but her indomitable character and selflessness will remain in our memories forever. Maria was born January 28, 1936 in St. Boniface, Manitoba and lived her entire life in Manitoba. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a degree in social work and pursued her passion of helping those in need in a long, successful career with a United Way agency in Winnipeg. Even after retirement Mom continued to volunteer with charities to help others, until just a few months ago. She has been an inspiration to us all. Maria met her life-long soul mate Robert (Bob) in Winnipeg in 1958. They enjoyed more than 55 years of marriage and together raised three children Paul (Gaby), Trish (Rick) and Carl. She also has two grandchildren Noah and Mitchell, and one great-grandchild, Cameron. Family was everything to Mom - she shared in all our victories and challenges as if they were her own. Maria is survived by her sister Violet, and brother George (Debbie). Our sorrow is deep now Maria. May your courage, tenacity and deep caring for others live on in all of us as a shining example of a life well-lived. Cremation will take place, followed by a private family gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maria to the United Way of Winnipeg or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Our family would like to thank Concordia Hospital staff for the exceptional care given to Maria.

Maria was my first supervisor after I received my Social Work degree. She was truly a mentor as I started my career, and taught me the importance of doing your very best every day. She was kind, compassionate, strong, and a true role model. I feel very blessed to have learned so much from her, and to have worked beside her. - Posted by: Susan Sader () on: Aug 16, 2016
