DAVID HARVEY STURGEON November 12, 1935 ! August 16, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Percy Moore Hospital. David was predeceased by his parents, Les and Doris and sister Maureen. Leaving to mourn his passing his son Bruce (Janice); daughters, Holly (Don), Leona (Arnold), Lisa, and Renee (Ross); as well as 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Brenda) and Doug (Nancy); and sister April (Steve); as well as a niece, nephews and several great-nephews and niece; his best friend Ed Stankewitch of 50 years; many special friends and extended family. David was a hard-working man, who at age 12 left school to help support the family, working in the forestry industry and bush camps in the Mantag, Jackhead and Fisher River areas. He eventually became a heavy equipment operator who laid the foundations for buildings such as Great-West Life, and others in the Winnipeg area. David also worked across Canada and made many friends along the way. We will remember his twinkling, blue eyes, great smile and sense of humour, many random acts of kindness, his countless stories, his famous dancing duo Donny and Connie and his beautiful fiddling and harmonica playing. David touched many lives in his very special way, and for that he will be deeply missed. Many thanks to all who made David's life as wonderful and fulfilled as it was. Our family will forever be grateful for the kindness, compassion and care given to us and David by the extraordinary people who held us up during this challenging time including the staff at Percy Moore Hospital. You may honour David by sharing one of his stories, by paying forward an act of kindness, or by making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Hodgson Manitoba at Hodgson Community Club at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
