Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE WAWRYK Remembering the life of Steve Wawryk, born July 20, 1921 in Gimli, MB and peacefully passing January 11, 2016 in Langley, BC. Steve served in the Second World War, where he was wounded in battle in Italy. He returned to Manitoba and started a trucking company in Netley. In 1959, he moved to Salt Spring Island where he lived most of his life building a successful excavation and trucking business. He was very well known on the island and especially enjoyed playing in cribbage tournaments at the legion. Steve was especially loved by his many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by seven siblings and leaves behind his sister, Josephine Swirski and sister-in-law Thelma Wawryk. Celebrating his life at the Selkirk (Manitoba) Legion at 403 Eveline Street on August 30 at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family are welcome.
