Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEOLA JOHNSON (nee BERTHELET) June 27, 1932 - September 1, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eola at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Eola is fondly remembered as a compassionate sister, step-mother, step-grandmother, aunt and friend. Eola battled cancer for many years and suffered a stroke in July, which forced her hospitalization. Eola was born in Laurier, Manitoba, the eldest of six children. After graduating from high school, she became a nun and teacher, teaching in various locations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. After she left the sisterhood she continued to teach in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. After moving to Winnipeg, she married Al Johnson and was immediately accepted by the Johnson family as a step-mother and grandmother. Eola was very proud of her new family and loved them all dearly. Eola was predeceased by her parents, Ovide and Amelie (Assailly) Berthelet; husband Albert Johnson; sister-in-law Marion Berthelet; brother Raymond Berthelet. She is survived by her brother Remi Berthelet; sister Colette Mozol (John); sister-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Berthelet; brother Paul Berthelet (Elaine); brother Roger Berthelet (Barb); numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces; and her beloved step-family, Gary (Marilyn), grandchildren, Kris and RJ (Chelsea), great-grandchild Linnea; Rick (Terry), grandchildren, Tricia (Jordan) and Mike; Karen (Mark), grandchildren, Shea and Jade. Eola leaves us with memories of their kindness, caring, humility, sense of humour, graciousness and strength of character in dealing with many challenges that she faced in her journey. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle, 2400 Portage Avenue. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My dear Cousin, Lola. You always had a smile on your face and love in your heart. You will be sadly missed by so many people because you touched so many lives. Your faith and optimism spread to everyone around you. Hope all our loved ones where there to greet you. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus. (try to beat your Uncle Lou in a game of crib) Love and miss you, Gail Berthelet - Posted by: Gail Berthelet (Cousin) on: Sep 05, 2016
