Bruce was born on August 28, 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the only child of John David (Jack) and Jean (Hembroff) MacDonald. I just found out about Bruce's passing recently. Even though it has been 3 years, I still wanted to express my sincerest condolences to his wife, Christine as well as his family and friends. I have very fond memories of working with Bruce in Vancouver and enjoyed his dry wit and great conversations. In particular, I will remember our many lunches. Dim Sum was a favourite as well as an occasional lunch at the Tea House in Stanley Park for special occasions. Rest in peace, Bruce. You always treated me with kindness and respect and I was always honoured to call you my friend. Fondly, Ann Caulfield - Posted by: Ann Caulfield (former coworker in Vancouver) on: Nov 06, 2019

Bruce and I became close friends in our undergrad years at the University of Manitoba where we participated in many university activities together including co-chairing the U Of M " Freshie Week" Committee . Through this we co - MC'd several special events including the half time show at the Winnipeg Blue Bomber game and a sold out " Hootenany" at the Winnipeg Auditirium starring the Modern Folk Quartet (fresh from an appearance on the Tonight Show) Our career paths took us in different directions abd despite long gaps in seeing one another we maintained a very close bond of friendship over the years. I visited Bruce during a visit I took to Winnipeg in May of this year at St. Boniface Hospital. While he struggled to communicate clearly, we definitely connected. He recognized those whose love and best wishes I brought to him and he reached out hold my hand as he asked about each of them - my wife Mary, our 3 daughters, my sister Cheryl and the Regan family our mutial close friends in Toronto and Vancouver . I knew I would not likely see Bruce again but as we hugged our goodbyes I was grateful we had the chance for this visit. Bruce had a eventful and at times rocky journey through his life but he was and always will be a special person and a great friend to me. My sympathies to his loved ones. Rest in peace, Bruce Your pal, Cal - Posted by: Dr Calvin Gutkin (Friend) on: Sep 03, 2016
