Dorothy began her career in 1959 as a switchboard operator working at the Hotel Fort Garry, the Royal Alexander Hotel and ending her career in 1989 at the Victoria Hospital. She was very proud of the fact that at a time when women had limited opportunities for technical jobs, she was capable of holding down a very demanding position. Dorothy was a strong willed, self-reliant and independent woman. Dorothy loved gardening, baking, fishing and outings with her family. She especially enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved large family gatherings on special occasions where she could spend time with her extended family and friends, having visits at Bill and Avril's and weekends at her sister's farm outside of Brandon. She spent many hours as a volunteer. She was a dedicated Brownie and Girl Guide Leader. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the ER and 5E staff at St. Boniface Hospital. A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held on September 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Windsor Community Center, Taunton Room, 99 Springside Road. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • The love of a grandma .... You can feel it in a hug You can hear it in the wisdom of their words they offer you You can taste it in the dinners and cookies made with love But most of all it resides in your heart and melds with your soul So as far as earth and heaven is apart, a grandmas love will always live in your heart. - Posted by: J k (Granddaughter) on: Sep 04, 2016
