ROBERT (BOB) KOLT SR. It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Kolt Sr. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the age of 76 years. Left to cherish Bob's memories are Judy, his wife of 52 years; son Jack (Sheryl) Kolt; daughter Debbie (Jeff) Kot; son Bob Jr. (Joanne) Kolt; and his beloved grandchildren, Cass, Becky, Matthew, Brady, Christopher, Brianna and Marisa Lynne. Bob took tremendous joy and pride in the many accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Bob will also be sadly missed by his twin brother, Richard (Bev) Kolt; sister Linda (Doug) Johnson; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his mother Lee and father Jack Kolt Sr. With his father Jack and brother Richard, Bob cofounded and successfully expanded and operated Kolt Music School and Sales for 49 years with multiple locations across Winnipeg. His entrepreneurial drive led him to pursue other business ventures including electronic sales and repairs, video gaming, and eventually developing a passion for consulting in the gold mining industry. Bob loved to entertain. The Kolt Brothers band, a Manitoba institution for over 20 years, performed at countless weddings and special occasions while recording numerous albums along the way. One of Bob's favourite songs to sing was the Blue Bombers Fighting Song, written by his brother Richard in the 1970s. In compliance with Bob's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. The family wishes to extend special thanks and sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Simkin Centre for the loving care and comfort they provided Bob and our family during his stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre, 1 Falcon Ridge Drive, Winnipeg MB, R3Y 1V9. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • It was so sad to her of Bob's passing. Like countless kids in Winnipeg's North End, Kolt Music Studios played an important role in our growing up. Bob's smiling face was ever present each week as we came in for our lessons. His Louis Armstrong imitation and his great showmanship on stage is a cherished moment. Both Bob and Richard were always encouraging and for that I am ever grateful. Thanks for the memories! - Posted by: Randy Shrofel (Friend) on: Sep 08, 2016

  • Kolt Music Studios was my second home. From music lessons in the '60s, teaching in the '70s and '80s, guitar repairs and working the upstairs store until Bob & Richard’s retirement. I will cherish all the years we worked together. Goodbye my friend and thank you for all the great memories. My deepest condolences to your whole family. - Posted by: Todd Station (Musician, employee, and friend) on: Sep 05, 2016

  • Bob was our go to guy when I was working in Winnipeg during the 70s. Bob took care of us when much of our equipment was Stolen. I still have a Custom amp I got from him with the baggy pants sticker on the grill. Rest in peace Bob and thanks Rick Mortensen - Posted by: Rick Mortensen (Grateful musician) on: Sep 05, 2016

  • Bob offered financial assistance for many of the bands I was in during the 60's and 70's. We always did our best not to let him down. I'm sure I not only speak for myself but many other groups struggling in Winnipeg at the time. So sorry to hear of his passing. • I am saddened to see that Bob has passed. Although not close friends we did know each other since the late 50s, early 60s. He was always friendly, had a good sense of humor, and never failed to wave a greeting from across the street when we happened to simultaneously be outdoors. My sincere condolences to his whole family in this time of sorrow and loss. - Posted by: Pat Murdock (Melnyk) (former neighbour) on: Sep 03, 2016

  • I would like to send my condolences to Judy and her family on Bob's passing. I would like to share a quote with them. "Bob has not died, but merely gone away, to a better place, free of pain and suffering. We will see him again some day. Rest In Peace Bob. - Posted by: Patricia Homenick(Rutherford) (Worked with Judy at Mb. Health in the 80s) on: Sep 03, 2016

  • Met Bob and Judy through Bob's sister Linda who was in charge of the Kolt Music School down the hall from the company where I worked. Attended a couple of the great Kolt house parties always complete with a live band. My condolences Linda to you and your family. - Posted by: Brian Carey () on: Sep 03, 2016
