SOPHIE MACIEJKO Sadly our family announces the passing of our much loved mom, grandmother and great- grandmother on August 16, 2016 at the age of 93 following a brief illness. Mom was born in Birds Hill, Manitoba in 1922 and was one of six siblings. Mom married her neighborhood sweetheart, Nicholas, in 1943 and raised their three sons in Charleswood. We owe much to mom, for her care and nurturing spirit. She and Dad worked hard to provide us with a childhood full of life's experiences and a good education. When not devoted to raising her sons, mom enjoyed swimming, bowling, curling, knitting and was very active at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Charleswood. Mom was always so positive about life, loved God and was always good for a joke or two to make everyone she met smile. She was a big support to Nick in his career development and was always entertaining, making business contacts feel welcome in our house. This in addition to the many staff parties she hosted, ensured that all employees knew that she and Nick appreciated them. Mom and Nick also loved their extended family and with their three sons, were always out to help with the harvest or whatever project needed attention on the farm or in our community. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Nick, who passed away in 1999. Mom will be fondly remembered and so missed by her three sons and their families: Harold and Sharon, Gerry and Sue, Jim and Diann. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, John, Carolyn, Brian, Sarah, Jason and Chris and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held to celebrate mom's life on September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Roblin Blvd. in Charleswood. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in mom's memory to the Cancer Foundation of your choice.
