SYLVIA ROSEMARIE MOTKALUK (nee SWERDAN) March 24, 1952 - September 4, 2016 On Sunday, September 4, 2016 Sylvia Rosemarie (Swerdan) Motkaluk passed peacefully to God's world. Born in Lamont, Alberta on March 24, 1952, Sylvia has called Winnipeg home for the last 39 years. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years Marko Motkaluk, and their beloved daughter Kristen. Sylvia and Marko were married on a hot August day in 1973. They loved, laughed and cherished each other and all the joy their family brought. She had many lifelong friends who have loved and supported her through the years, and who meant the world to her. Sylvia was an employee of MTS for 36 wonderful years, loving her job and the countless special friendships made during her years there. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Syl and I go way back to our school days, later becoming roommates shortly after leaving high school. She was an incredibly beautiful person, humble, sincere and so very funny. Anyone who knew Sylvia well, would agree she could make anyone laugh until they cried. I enjoyed getting together with Syl and Marko during their visits to Alberta, where Syl and I would reminisce about our early adventures and good times after leaving school. My deepest regrets to Dianne, Mel, David and especially to Marko and Kristen ..... it is much to soon to say good-bye. - Posted by: Becky Starko (Friend) on: Sep 11, 2016

  • Sylvia had far more influence on her co-workers than she could have imagined. She was observant, listened and her contributions and advice that followed were always thoughtfully considered. Sylvia willingly extended her help to newcomers, was dedicated to her work, was a company person, and gladly extended her helping hand to those who needed help, regardless of their rank in the company. She will be missed by many. May God bless and reward her in eternity for her generosity and kindness toward others on earth. - Posted by: Peter J Falk (co-worker) on: Sep 09, 2016

  • Sylvia we met in IT in MTS. Have known you since 1980. You were so dedicated, funny and loving. I'll miss you. Sincere condolences to the Motkaluk family. - Posted by: Sheena Graham (Co-Worker) on: Sep 09, 2016

  • I am deeply saddened by the news of Sylvia's passing. I worked with Sylvia for many years, and I, as well as many others benefitted from her strong work ethic and efficiency. But what really was special about Sylvia was her strength of character, and positive outlook on life. Even when things were not going well for her, she would always be kind, friendly, and thoughtful of everyone around her. She was a great help to me, and had a strong and positive influence on our workplace, and I am sure to everyone around her. My deepest condolences to Kristen and Marko, and the rest of her family. - Posted by: Wayne Demkey (Co-worker) on: Sep 09, 2016

  • Mama Sylv was a beautiful woman with so much love and grace. She thought of everyone before herself. Recently I was with Kristen and Sylvia called, she had no idea I was there and able to hear their conversation. She carried on asking about all the people that mattered to Kristen and said she was still praying for Michelle (me) & Scott to have a healthy baby. It touched my heart and I'll never forget it. In all her suffering she was thinking of even me. Thank you Sylvia for having us in your prayers, you have been in mine as well. Thank you for the amazing gift of your daughter as well, who has the same generous spirit and enormous heart. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Michelle Wilson (Friend of daughter, Kristen) on: Sep 08, 2016

  • We will all miss you Sylvia. We worked for years together at MTS and we all had the opportunity to benefit from your work dedication, humour and good spirit! I am grateful for everything you did to guide me at my arrival at MTS and how you supported me for my first year. - Posted by: Pierre Blouin (co-worker) on: Sep 08, 2016
