Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT (HERB) DRAYSON July 6, 1925 - September 5, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Albert Herbert Drayson on Monday, September 5 at the age of 91. He will be dearly missed by his wife Ina of 71 years; daughter Joan Majury and husband Kim; three grandchildren, Jason, Christine (Justin) and Megan Gyles (Matt); two great-grandchildren, Logan Majury and Neve Gyles; two sisters, Marjorie Colvine (Garnet) of Arden, MB and Joyce Roberg of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Herb was born in Neepawa, MB and grew up on the family farm. He joined the Winnipeg Rifles in 1943 and served in France, Germany and Holland. He was wounded in Belgium. At that time he was sent to England to recuperate. During an evening out in London he met Thomasina (Ina) from Dundee, Scotland, who became his wife on August 11, 1945. They made their home in St. James in Winnipeg and in 1955 adopted their daughter Joan, of whom he was always so very proud. We could always count on Herb to have a big smile and a great sense of humor. He loved his garden, particularly his roses. What gave him the most pleasure though were his grandchildren. He loved to treat them to chicken and chips and Dutch Maid ice cream. When two great-grandchildren arrived in 2008 and 2016 he was thrilled. In 2006, Herb, due to health, entered the Deer Lodge Centre where he remained up until the time of his passing. Our family would like to extend a special "Thanks" to the staff of Tower 5 for their outstanding care and friendship. We know he will be missed by all. In keeping with Dad's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. "We Love You Dad" Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

My deepest condolences to Herb's family and loved ones. I know he was always so proud of you and talked about you often. I had the pleasure of meeting Herb at Deer Lodge in 2010 when working in the security office there. He would come down to the office and say hi to us every morning, and many of those mornings I would sit with him in the cafeteria and we'd have breakfast, or lunch, or dinner, there was never a shift I went without having him around, which always involved laughter and the telling of stories and jokes. His face would light up at any mention of Ina, he loved her so dearly. He would tell me about meeting her in Scotland, about how much he loved his daughter and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was so proud of all of you. Herb was a blessing to me, and I'm so sad he's gone, but I'm so thankful to have known him, and thankful he taught me so much about myself. Because of him I left Security at Deer Lodge in 2012 to go to college to work in the medical field, and because of him I still volunteer for the End of Life program there - because he showed me where my heart truly lies, he showed me what I can accomplish, and I'll never be able to thank him enough for it. He was like the grandfather I never had, and a true friend. Thank you, Herb. I'll miss you. Much love to you and your family. Alana E. - Posted by: Alana E. (Friend) on: Sep 17, 2016

I wanted to send my condolences to both Ina and Joan and your family in the loss of your husband, father and grandfather, Herb. Although it has been many years since I worked with your mom at Health Sciences Centre, I still remember all of you and still remember the time I did not have my car and your dad loaned me his car (which was a standard) and I had great difficulty driving it since I had not driven a standard for quite a few years. I wish you all well and am very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Alice French (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2016
