MARGARET ANN BECKETT June 13, 1935 - September 12, 2016 On September 12, 2016, at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB, Margaret Ann Beckett, aged 81 years of Ashern, MB passed away after a brief illness. Margaret Ann is survived by her two sons Pat (Sherry) and Grant (Bonnie); two brothers Jack (Jackie) and Keith (Gail); two grandchildren Bo and Brooke; sisters-in-law Florence, Jesse, Merle and Marge, along with many friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, of 54 years, two brothers Wally and Robert, and her parents Cecil and Elizabeth Glover. Margaret Ann was born June 13, 1935 in Roland, MB. After she graduated Grade 12, Mom attended Normal School in Winnipeg and attained her teaching certificate. Her first teaching position was in a small one-room schoolhouse south of Darlingford, MB. Mom and Dad met in 1955 while Dad worked for MTS in Roland. After a two year courtship, they were married July 13, 1957. Following the wedding, Mom and Dad travelled the province with Dad's job having brief stops in Neepawa, Morden and The Pas. In November 1963, they settled in Ashern, MB. In 1963, they welcomed Pat into their lives and then Grant in 1969. They enjoyed raising the boys and all the good times spent watching them play hockey and baseball. Mom loved to curl, golf and especially play bingo and cards. She also loved to knit and crochet. In her later years she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Ashern Legion Hall with Dawn Tober officiating. Interment to be held in the Ashern United Churchyard Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the hall. Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital who cared for Mom.
