RICHARD BRIAN RICE
Born: Mar 11, 1945
Date of Passing: Sep 07, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD (RICK) BRIAN RICE March 11, 1945 - September 7, 2016 It is with great sadness that the Rice family announces the passing of Richard (Rick) Brian Rice at the age of 71 on September 7, 2016 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Marion Rice. He is survived by his two sons Brodie, Kyle, and their mother Linda-Lou Rice; his three brothers Larry (Caroline), Ken (Janice), Don (Susan), and many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his lifelong friends Peter and Shelley Herbert, Don Goodridge, Dal McCloy, Wayne Alsip and Malcom Braithwaite. He was comforted in the last years of his life by his friends in Winnipeg, Peggy, Mike and Ron. Rick grew up in Winnipeg, spending many summers at the family cottage in Victoria Beach, Manitoba. After many business endeavors in Winnipeg with friends and family, his work as an HVAC technician brought him to the Rocky Mountains of Canmore, Alberta, where he had a family and enjoyed fishing and boating with his boys. He also spent time on Vancouver Island with his girlfriend Maggie before coming back to Winnipeg where he lived until his passing. Dad always had great stories of the good times had with friends like sailing from Clear Water Bay in their handmade trimaran sail boat and ice boating on Ghost Lake. Rick requested not to have any formal service so we ask all to remember him in their own way. Special thanks to all the friends and family that have helped Rick over the years and to the staff of the Grace Hospital for helping him in his times of need.

I was very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. We were very close friends at one time and I too have many great memories of the homemade trimaran and Clearwater Bay. I will always remember him as the handsome, smart, talented and fun loving person he was. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kathy Gugin (Old Friend) on: Sep 19, 2016

I offer a toast in Rick's memory and so probably will the 1960's group of alumni at their November meeting at the Silver Heights Restaurant. Since I now live in Ontario I do not get to those meetings very often. I do remember Rick as a very friendly and polite student in my homeroom class. To the family and friends my sincere condolences.
