AUDREY OLSON Audrey Olson passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, Manitoba. A memorial service was held in the Clearwater Hall in Clearwater on August 21. Audrey was born on January 6, 1929 and grew up on the family farm south of Mather. When her father passed away in 1946, she quit school to help her mother and younger siblings manage the farm. In 1950, she married Gilbert Myall and they had two daughters, Lorna and Brenda. In 1953, after Gilbert's accidental death, Audrey resumed her education, received her Teaching Certificate, and taught school at Clearwater Elementary for two years. In 1957 she married Norval Olson and moved to the Olson farm south of Clearwater. Norval and Audrey had two children, Marlene and Dale. In 1991 Norval and Audrey retired from farming and moved into the town of Clearwater. In June of 2016, due to deteriorating health, Audrey took up residence at Prairie View Lodge in Pilot Mound. Over the years Audrey was well known as a dedicated community worker, involved in many local organizations and the United Church, serving in various capacities. She was a very compassionate person, forward-thinking and a strong advocate for the less fortunate, lending her support to a variety of causes. Audrey also had many interests and talents, including gardening, quilting, sewing, painting and many crafts. She saw the best in everyone and everything and will be remembered for her friendliness and genuine interest in others. Audrey is missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Norval, daughter Lorna Knudsen (Howard) and children Jeff (Lisa) and Alesha (Ryan), daughter Brenda Myall (Carter) and children Dallas, Jodi, and Stacy, daughter Marlene Singh (Dave) and children Marlow (Supriya), Janelle, and Marty, and son Dale Olson (Linda) and children Jarrett (Kristi) and Clinton (Leah), and great-grandchildren Megan and Anna, Colin, Trae and Braden, and Darby, Vance, and Connor. Audrey was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Helen (Orr) Mayo, her first husband Gilbert Myall, brothers Lloyd and Darwin Mayo, sister Darleen Trembath, grandson Tanner Olson, and nephew Wade Trembath. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Nejad and the staff of Rock Lake Hospital and Prairie View Lodge for their respectful and compassionate care. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Audrey's memory to Canadian Diabetes Association. Wheatland Funeral Service (204) 825-2848 www.wheatlandfs.com
