ROSE METCALFE (nee CHUDY) It is with deep sorrow that the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Friday, September 9, 2016. She leaves to mourn her son Ronald (Eileen), grandchildren Paul (Sue), Scott (Michal, great-grandchildren Ian and Sarah), and Brent; and son Kenneth (Jo-Anne), grandchildren Elizabeth (Stephen, great-grandson Riley), and Andrew (Erin, great-granddaughter Kaylin). She is also survived by her sister Allice of Maple Ridge, BC, sisters-in-law Sally of Winnipeg, Irene of Vancouver, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James in 1989, brothers Mike (Doris), and Walter, sisters Muriel (George), and Jean (Don), and brother-in-law George. Her early education was in Broad Valley, MB, and then in Winnipeg where she graduated from business college and library services. She was a devoted mother and supported her sons in their education and interests. In her own quiet way, she was very intelligent, capable and took pleasure in all family occasions. Her interests were focused on her immediate family and her great pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years, she was a member of the Fellowship of Al-Anon which was meaningful and a way of life for her. She contributed her time and energy with lasting friendships. She enjoyed playing bridge in her community and at a senior's centre for many years. A private family graveside service has taken place. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends should desire, they can make a donation to a charity of their choice.
