DENISE VICTORIA VAUGHAN May 24, 1942 - September 19, 2016 Denise Victoria Vaughan (nee LaPlume), loving wife of 55 years to husband Winston, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Denise leaves to mourn her husband Winston, son Darren (Amy), grandchildren Oliver and Abigail, brothers Raymond LaPlume and Roger LaPlume, special cousin Paulette Decka to whom Denise was both "big sister" and "little mother", sister-in-law Iris Slater who was her "big sister", and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Denise worked as a grocery store clerk before she decided there had to an easier way to earn a living. She then started on a new path doing clerical work for several large firms in Winnipeg, until she became a mother and full time homemaker, a career at which she excelled greatly. Denise was an excellent cook, and spent many hours happily canning or preserving produce from "her" large weed-free garden. Denise and Winston liked to travel, whether to Hawaii or just driving/trailering through Canada and the USA. Denise was a "happy go lucky" person with a bubbly personality. She enjoyed all aspects of life, from large family gatherings, to peaceful country walks with her husband while their furry companions followed along. Denise will be remembered as a very loving, giving person and will forever be missed by all who knew her. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Van Rensburg and the caring staff at the Beausejour District Hospital for the excellent care Denise received during her short stay there. Thank you as well to Carol Frailik IERHA home care coordinator and staff for their help and caring during this very difficult time. An interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., followed by celebration of life on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Denise's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
