ANDY ARNOT Andrew James Arnot, affectionately known as Andy, passed away suddenly on September 19, 2016 at the age of 74. Andy lived in West Des Moines, Iowa and Mesa, Arizona. Andy will be missed and remembered by his family: Evelyn Arnot, his wife of nearly four years; sister, Anne Mollenhauer; sister-in-law, Ena Arnot; and nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by Kai Arnot, his beloved wife of 41 years; parents, David and Mary Arnot; brother, Bob Arnot; and sister, Sheila Arnot. Andy was born and raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He was a successful sportscaster at Global Television in Winnipeg and eventually became the network's news director. His work was his passion, and he loved providing commentary on all sports from hockey to baseball. He was a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, sipping a glass of merlot, and ordering the best dessert on the menu. Andy's life changed in the Spring of 2012 when he met Evelyn Libby in Mesa, Arizona. They fell in love and were married in October 2012. They enjoyed each other's company, spent time traveling, playing golf and simply holding hands. Andy was embraced by Evelyn's family of three sons, three daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. Andy especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren who miss him terribly. A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Andy's life on Sunday, September 25 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service will be held at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. I first met Andy in 1984, he presented me with the top student award I received while studying broadcast arts in Winnipeg. After that meeting Andy was instrumental in helping me land my first job in television. A selfless act that goes a long way in describing the man he was. Andy was a kind person who will be missed, may he rest in peace. - Posted by: Dwight Iwan (Former Collegue ) on: Sep 25, 2016

Evelyn - so sorry to hear about Andy. It was wonderful to be introduced and then see with you & Andy each fall at the Kick Butt event here in Winnipeg (I was a former student of Kai's). One could tell that you were both so happy together. My deepest condolences to you and your family. - Posted by: Paula Parks (Friend) on: Sep 24, 2016

Evelyn, Our deepest condolences. On behalf of the entire Kick Butt team we can't tell you how much Andy meant to us and how much he will be missed. It meant so much to us that Andy made the trip up to Winnipeg every September to do the walk/run in Kae's memory.
