EMILY BAZYLO (nee LELYK) On September 21, 2016, with family by her side, Emily passed away at St. Boniface Hospital after a battle with cancer. Emily was predeceased by her husband, Michael and her son, Donald. Surviving Emily are her two sons, Albert, Larry (Pat), and her two daughters, Yvonne (Ray), and Darlene (Ken). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris (Karen), Jennifer (Trevor), Ashleigh (Michael), Riley (Kayla), Andrew, and great-grandchildren Cassidy, Cole and Bently. Emily was born on February 2, 1929 to Demitri and Lillian Lelyk. She later moved to Winnipeg where she met Michael Bazylo. They were married in 1947. She worked in the fashion industry for over 30 years which included Singer, Monarch Wear and Gemini Fashions. Emily was extremely involved with her church and the Legion, participating on numerous committees and volunteering to help with luncheons, teas and fundraisers as well as visiting shut-ins in hospitals and homes. Over her lifetime, Emily was presented with many awards including The Legion's Meritorious Service Award, The Palm Leaf Award for volunteering, the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee, The Ukrainian Self-Reliance League of Canada Award of Excellence, as well as a nomination for a Woman of Distinction Award for Volunteering. Emily was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Thank you to the staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for your care and compassion for our mother and Baba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral service will be held at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day Street, on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Transcona Cemetery.
