LORNE BRIDE In keeping with his gentle nature, Lorne passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2016. To the end, he braved cancer with a selfless optimism and cheerful spirit that never wavered. Cherished memories offer comfort to Lorne's loving wife of 63 years, Rosada; daughters, Debbie and Brenda (Ray); grandson, Justin (Marilyn); sister, Merle; brother, Harvey (Marianne); and sister-in-law Ruth. He is also missed by many extended family members and friends. Lorne was a warmhearted man who lived a wholehearted life. He was born on March 14, 1928 in Fordwich, Ontario, and grew up on the family farm. His rural, wartime roots inspired several lifelong passions, notably aviation history, big band music and vintage cars and steam locomotives. Lorne enjoyed a fulfilling career in architectural technology for over 40 years, mostly with the engineering consulting firm HG Acres. Initially, he worked at its head office in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where he and Rosada raised their daughters. In 1974, the family embraced a relocation opportunity when Acres offered Dad a job in Winnipeg. It was a good move that has kept us here ever since. Dad retired from Acres in 1992 but never gave any hint of wanting to live elsewhere. Manitoba offered everything he could ask for in the way of favorite pastimes and a vibrant lifestyle. In recent years, he relished every minute spent practising, performing, socializing and road-tripping with his friends in five different concert bands. A celebration of Lorne's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Avenue, Winnipeg. At 10:45 a.m., a group of his bandmates will perform a musical prelude to the 11:00 a.m. Service. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Coodin, Lorne's radiation treatment team at CancerCare, and the compassionate staff at Victoria General Hospital who helped ease his final days. If desired, donations in Lorne's memory may be made to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, 958 Ferry Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3H 0Y8, or a charity of your choice.Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

It is with much sadness that we hear of Lorne's passing. Lorne and Rosada and both girls were close neighbours who were heavily involved in the daily life of Courtney right from birth. Deep felt condolences go out to all of you. Jacqueline Dingman (March 13,2017) - Posted by: Jacqueline Dingman and family (Friends from Niagara) on: Mar 13, 2017

We were saddened by Lorne's passing. Lorne was a good friend, a very giving person, and a true gentleman. His kindness and respect towards others is rare and we were the better for knowing him. He was a great friend to my father for many years, and also to my grandparents, and was well-liked by all who knew him. -Winnipeg - Posted by: Diane Johnstone & Michael Dyck (Friend) on: Oct 14, 2016
