PAUL FEARON MOULDEN It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Paul Moulden on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 91 years. Left to forever cherish Paul's memory are, Gwen, his wife of 65 years; son, Donald, his wife Margarete, grandchildren, Ceilidh, Declan and Kate; son, David, grandsons, Alex and Danny, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba; daughter, Diane Mowbray and husband Doug of Roland, Manitoba; granddaughter, Erin Haberoth, husband Mike and great-granddaughter Brooke of Fort McMurray, Alberta; sister-in-law, Jackie in Edmonton, Alberta; Gwen's sister, Muriel Smith of Winnipeg; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Douglas (2007); grandson Patrick Mowbray (2003); his older brother John; younger brother Peter and his wife Alice; and brother-in-law Murray Smith. On January 6, 1925 Dad was born to Douglas and Margaret (Fearon) Moulden. He was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg except for time served during the Second World War as a gunner in the Canadian Artillery serving in Italy, France, Holland, and Germany, including the Army of Occupation. Mom and Dad married in 1951. A few years later Dad joined Harry F. Moulden & Son (manufacturers' agents), later known as Mouldens Ltd. He was a long time member of the Winnipeg Rotary Club and a lifetime member of the Reh-Fit Centre. Life was busy with four children. He was a hands-on Dad: making us a skating rink in the back yard, coaching Douglas' and David's hockey teams, taking Diane horseback riding and golfing with Donald. Summers meant a road trip, camping and time spent at the family cottage in Ponemah, on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. Dad retired in1988, having more time to travel, read, and go to the Lake. Travel was a large part of Mom and Dad's life. Their first big trip was to Mexico in the late 50s and his last was in 2008 to Las Vegas, at almost 84 years of age. Dad walked every day, seeing the sights, stopping for a daily expresso latte, proud to be the oldest person there. He managed to visit all the continents except Australia and the Antarctic. Always physically active, he walked faithfully and did his daily home exercises for years, under the guidance of Glen Young, his physiotherapist. Dad lived a long and active life. His decline during the last few years was very frustrating for him. Our family is so very grateful for the wonderful care and support from Home Care, Riverview Day Program, Comforts of Home, the Deer Lodge Prime Program and his most recent home, Deer Lodge Centre (Tower 5+7). We can't thank you enough! Your patience and loving care are forever appreciated. A Come and go Celebration of Paul's Life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in The Boulton Retirement Residence, 45 Boulton Bay, Winnipeg. A private family Service and Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory would be appreciated and may be made to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 0L3 or The Patrick Mowbray Memorial Fund, Box 216, Roland, Manitoba R0G 1T0.
