LYNNE GOULD It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynne Gould (nee McPhail) on September 22, 2016 one day after celebrating her 53rd wedding anniversary with husband, Bob. Born in Winnipeg on January 23, 1942 to Evelyn and Leonard McPhail, Lynne leaves her loving and devoted husband, Bob, son Norman (Jennifer - Gavin, Reese and Keenan), daughter Brenda (Don - Samantha), and son Steven (Francine - Rylan and Nathan). Prior to staying home to raise their three children Lynne worked in the accounting department with the Government of Manitoba. As a stay at home Mom she will be fondly remembered for her knitting, needlepoint creations, playing the piano, baking authentic vinarterta and other dainties. In 1981 Lynne returned to the work force with employment at Air Canada, Unicity Mall and Centra Gas before retiring. From the early 1970s onward Lynne was heavily involved in her sorority, becoming its president in 1975. During her years with sorority she was the life of the party through her attendance at many conventions over the years. Her many years of service and dedication to her sorority sisters was recognized by receiving the Order of the Rose (1983), Silver Circle (1993) and the Torch (2014). She volunteered her time at book sales and found great fulfillment and comradery singing with the St. Chads Choir until she could no more. Lynne and Bob enjoyed travelling, whether it be by car or by plane. She would often ask Bob to take day trips out of the city to savour the fall colours or to just feel the rumbling road and the Manitoba landscape. She often reminisced about their travels to Wisconsin Dells, the North shore of Lake Superior, walking through the streets of old Quebec and enjoying the sunsets on Maui. Lynne had a passion for watching baseball and curling. She embodied love and compassion to family and friends. To know Lynne, was to know a generous and caring soul. She touched all of those around her. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the caring, compassionate and professional staff at Grace Hospital. Lynne requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Special Olympics Manitoba. A celebration of Lynne's life will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Charleswood United Church (4820 Roblin Blvd.), at 2:00 p.m.
