GEORGINA LEARMONTH Celebration of Life Georgina Victoria Janet (Fileccia) Learmonth, born Winnipeg, MB, on January 6, 1943; died Surrey, BC, February 15, 2015. Beloved spouse of Peter Learmonth, New Westminster, BC; mother of Peter (Stephanie - San Jose, CA), and Sarah, New Westminster; grandmother of Kira and Parker (San Jose) and of Andrew and Steven (New Westminster); sister to Jack (Joan - Bragg Creek, AB), and Fil (Louise - Winnipeg); and sister-in-law to Donna (the late Frank Fileccia - Winnipeg). Cherished by her children and grandchildren. "Grandma Gina" to many others of three generations in Canada and USA. Grandma Gina was the light of the lives of her children and grandchildren, an accomplished creator of costumes and many other garments, very involved supporter of child activities, and expert baker of gingerbread houses. She moved ten times as Peter's army career sent her and the children across Canada (ON, NB, MB, and BC) and to Europe (Germany three times, UK). With her BA degree ("barely able", as she called it), she held many jobs as opportunities allowed, including retail, tax clerk, medical office leadership, and IT whiz. Her ashes rest in the gardens of Royal Roads Military College (now Royal Roads University) in Victoria as was her wish. Gina married Peter on October 8, 1966. We celebrate her life and the beginning of their lives together and all the marvels that followed on this day, October 8, 2016. Donations in her memory to cancer research and to treatment and support of cancer patients.
