Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNATALIE (NETTIE) SHIRLEY (nee TCHIR) August 2, 1921 - October 4, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Natalie on October 4, 2016, peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 95 years, in Wakaw, SK. If a single word could describe our mum it would be "feisty." She was fiercely independent, strong, brave, hardworking and always putting her children before herself. Mum was born in Winnipeg, MB into a close and loving family. As a young woman she contributed to the war effort riveting airplanes. After the war she moved to Vancouver where she worked as a housekeeper and raised her two children. In her middle years mum travelled to places like Australia, Morocco and the Holy Land before moving to Watrous, SK. Finally in her early 90s mum moved into an extended care home in Wakaw, SK Mum leaves to mourn her son Robert (Eva), daughter Samantha-Jane, sister Olga, sister-in-law Anne, grandsons Jeff (Alison) and Garry (Lynne), six great-grandchildren, three nephews Norman (Gillian), David (Joyce) and Jim (Sandy), and a niece Donna (Jim) and their children. She was predeceased by her sisters Rose and Anne, brothers Peter and Nicholas, parents Harry and Mary, her son-in-law Thomas and her former husband Edwin. Service and interment to be held at a later date in Winnipeg, MB. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Natalie's memory to Esk-Omi Mission, St. Norbert, MB R3V 1L6. This charity, dear to mum's heart, supports the Roman Catholic Diocese of Churchill-Hudson Bay for the operation of its 24 missions in the Eastern Canadian Arctic.
