Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY STEFANIUK 1925 - 2016 Harry passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital on October 11, 2016 after suffering a stroke. He had a wonderful life. At 91 years of age it was time for him to end his life journey. He went peacefully with no struggling. His life cycle is finally completed. Harry was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Sonia. He leaves behind him daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Perry Grycko; grandson Adam Grycko and wife Amanda Lucas; granddaughter Aurora Grycko and life mate Robert Mayo and great-grandsons, Gabriel and Darius Mayo. Harry was born February 11, 1925 in the town of Sokol, Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada with his mother Anna and brother John in 1938. his father William had already immigrated to Canada in 1929. They settled and farmed in Glenella, Manitoba. Dad started dating the love of his life Sonia Finkiewich in 1946 and were wed in 1949. They farmed in Glenella until 1954. They then moved to Winnipeg where they purchased a grocery store. It wasn't long after they realized that running their own business was not a bowl of cherries. Harry then got a job as a printer at Workers Benevolent Association. After 16 years at the W.B.A. he was given the opportunity to work for Peoples Co-op Dairies as their accountant. At the age of 42 he went to Red River College and completed his accounting course and worked at the dairy until his retirement. Harry had a passion for music and singing. He had the most beautiful tenor voice. He sang in the A.U.U.C. Banduras choir for years and continued to sing with many different groups up until last year. Dad also loved to travel. Harry and Sonia made many trips to the Ukraine and they also loved vacationing in Cuba in the winter. We are thrilled that they made a very good life for themselves and enjoyed a full life in their Golden Years. Harry will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Thank you to everyone who came to visit dad over the last couple of years in the hospital and at his home. He really enjoyed your company. Special thank you to the staff on 5U5 at S.O.G.H. Your kindness will be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice. At Harry's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
