Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM EDMUND VAN DONGEN October 5, 1945 - October 13, 2016 On Thursday, October 13, 2016, Will passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memories are his wife and caregiver Joie; daughters, Lori (Gerald Danais), Leah (Ali McGillivray). He was 'Opa' to Keleigh, Madeleine, Sophie, Conor and Emma; 'Willie' to brothers, Jan (Rita), Fred (Renata), John (Eva), Barry; and sister Ann Viehweg; and 'Uncle Will' to several nieces and nephews. Born in Breda, Netherlands, Will immigrated to Canada with his family at age six. Through determination and self-education, Will achieved success as an orderly, accountant and hotel manager. He was a hunter, camper, boatman, fisherman and snowmobile enthusiast who loved working in his garage 'shop' while listening to music. Will's family are very grateful for the excellent care and compassion shown by the staff at the Grace Hospital. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Will's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1465 Buffalo Place, Suite 100, Winnipeg, MB R3T 1L8.
