GORDON (BUD) MCINTOSH 1928 - 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bud on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 88 years. Remaining to forever cherish Bud's memory are: his best friend, school sweetheart and wife Katie of 67 years of marriage; sons, Alan "Scott" (Diane) and Gordon "Jeffrey" (Tanis); daughter, "Shauna" Patricia (John); seven grandchildren, Tanya, Darcy, Jillian, Jessica, Sarah, Terry and Amber; seven great-grandchildren, Breighann, Kaelen, Eli, Charlie, Wyatt, Weston and Walker; sister Carol Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Marjory McIntosh and Julie Levesque; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, David "Gordon" and "Nellie"; brothers, Allan "Al" David and Ron "Walter"; and brother-in-law Don Mitchell. On June 20, 1928 Bud was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He moved to St. James, Winnipeg in 1944 where he completed his schooling. Bud married Katie September 23, 1949 and they immediately moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba and to the employ of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. Their children were born in Flin Flon. Bud was very active for the community of Flin Flon and served on many executives, i.e.: Flin Flon Community Club, Ross Lake Curling Club, Lions Club, Phantom Lake Golf Club (was involved in the construction and now a life member). He also coached in Minor Hockey and served as program chairman for Flin Flon Junior Bomber Hockey Club. In October 1963 Bud was transferred to Snow Lake, Manitoba. He continued to be active by serving 12 years on Volunteer Fire Department, Lions Club, Community Club, Golf Club, Minor Hockey, Local Government District Board, President Pre-Cambrian Intermediate Hockey League, Co-building chairman new curling rink in 1970-71. He helped in erecting the new Arena and installing artificial ice and cement floor in the Arena. Bud was extremely proud of his life membership of the Snow Lake Lions Club and he is also a Honorary Life member of the Manitoba Curling Association and a life member of the Snow Lake Curling Club. In 1986 Bud retired and he and Katie moved to their retirement home at Berry Bay, nine miles from Snow Lake, where he enjoyed his retirement golfing and fishing. In 1990 they started a nine year trek in the winters to Arizona where he and Katie spent their time golfing and enjoying life. After snowbirding for nine years, they moved to Red Deer, Alberta after spending 50 years in the North. Bud admitted it was great to be back in "Gods Country" although he still loved Northern Manitoba. His plans were to be buried in his beloved North, in Snow Lake where he resided for 36 years of his 50 years in the North. In 2007 Bud and Katie moved back to Winnipeg to be nearer family for his remaining years. Bud always mentioned that he had a great life in the North and not to feel sorry for him leaving. The friends he met through his activities, more so curling and golf where his wife Katie let him go to all the bonspiels and golf tournaments, were wonderful and fulfilling. In compliance with Bud's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. The family would like to send a sincere thank-you to the nurses and nursing aides at the Misericordia Hospital Cornish 2 for their good care and kindness to Bud, he definitely appreciated it.
