András was predeceased by his wife Mária, parents Erzsébet and Lajos Nagy, and four siblings. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Maria (Tim), and Andrew (Erin), his grandchildren, Liane, Olivia, Vanessa, Erika, Daryl and Brendan, his great-grandchildren, Christianna and Ryan, and numerous nieces in Hungary as well as their families. András was born in Berettyoujfalu, Hungary in March of 1919. He was living in Budapest when the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 broke out and he decided to leave. He met Mária in Austria where they wed and moved to Canada, choosing Winnipeg as their destination. They were married for 59 years. András loved to sing, act in Hungarian plays, play cards, play chess and watch sports. He worked as a house painter. He was a great cook and everything that tasted good had the adjective "papa's" in front of it; such as papa's breaded turkey, papa's breaded mushrooms, papa's homemade noodles or papa's soup. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 5 at the Hungarian Canadian Cultural Society of Manitoba, 443 Selkirk Ave,, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m.
