Born: Nov 21, 1935
Date of Passing: Oct 24, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERTA LISELOTTE PETERS November 21, 1935 - October 24, 2016 Herta was born at home, near Carlton, Saskatchewan, to immigrant parents, Henry and Lina Harder (Neu). She attended the Riverlot country school, loved it, and after graduating from Rosthern Junior College, went on to an exciting career as a primary school teacher. While attending Canadian Mennonite Bible College she met and, in 1964, married Hugo Peters. Aside from her role as an Educator, Herta was a remarkable handy-woman, marketer and property manager. Her faith journey began with her baptism in 1954 at the Tiefengrund Mennonite Church. Since 1972 she has been an active member of Bethel Mennonite Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, photography, hiking and traveling. Her real love, however, was her family, especially her five grandsons. She is survived by her husband, Hugo, daughters Myrna (Darryl) Dyck and Renee (Rudy) Strempler, and grandchildren Matthew, Ryan and Brandon Dyck, Jordan and Jonathan Strempler, as well as her siblings, Guenter (Marianne) Harder, Betty (Raymond) Funk, Dorothy (Alfred) Rempel, Norma (Victor) Funk, Mervyn (Lorene) Peters, and Vern (Luella) Peters. Also mourning her passing are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She died in Invermere, BC while vacationing at Fairmont Hot Springs - her favourite mountain get-away. Her funeral will take place at Bethel Mennonite Church at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3. Viewing will take place prior to the service as well as at 7:30 p.m. the evening before (at Bethel Mennonite Church). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Global Family at Mennonite Central Committee.

It is with sadness that we heard of Herta's passing. It is a great loss to your family but also to your "extended" family and friends. The ripples of our memories span not just years but decades. In particular, at this time, we want to especially remember Hugo, Guenter & Marianne, and Betty & Ray ... those that we remember most vividly. - Posted by: John & Mildred Dyck (Saskatoon) () on: Nov 06, 2016
