Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH BUCHANAN EWING DAVIES 1914 - 2016 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our family's long-standing matriarch, on Monday, October 24. Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Majdell and Joyce Berry (Bruce); her son-in-law Kerrigan Turner; her six grandchildren, Judson Majdell (Amanda), Heidi Majdell, Adam Turner (Catherine), Tiffany Turner (Matthew), Ryan Berry (Jessica) and Sean Berry. She was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, Toni, Claudia, Beck, Evan, Elizabeth, Andrew, William, Carlye, Matthew, Charlotte, Alexandra and Jake. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, her husband William Barclay Davies, her daughter Lynda Turner, her son-in-law Brian Majdell and her nine siblings. Our mother taught by example with her intense love of family, her enthusiasm for life, her sense of humour and positive attitude. She was an avid volunteer and a much-respected resident of the Town of Mount Royal, organizing a speakers' bureau, fundraisers and fashion shows. She was a devoted member and elder at the Town of Mount Royal United Church, assisting with a variety of church events and serving as the leader of the United Church Women's Auxiliary for many years. While raising a family, Mom worked in the accounting department of The Royal Trust Company in Montreal; numbers being her forte. She was a lover of all kinds of games, especially bridge, and a gifted athlete. A keen competitor in numerous sports; she particularly excelled at golf, curling and lawn bowling. Above all else, our mother enjoyed family gatherings. Elizabeth aged gracefully and with great dignity in her 102 years. With her many interests and activities, she remained engaged and engaging "forever young". Our family will cherish the treasure box of memories and teachings our mother has given us. One of her favourite Scottish songs included a verse, which will continue to comfort her loved ones: "Keep right onto the end of the road, Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong Keep right on round the bend If you're tired and weary, still journey on Till you come to your happy abode Where the ones you love and are dreaming of Will be waiting at the end of the road" (Sir Harry Lauder) We are very grateful to the incredible team at the Sunrise of Beaconsfield for their kindness and care of our mother. We wish to especially thank Resident Care Director Sabrina Dion, who was a constant and compassionate support to our family. A memorial service will be held for Elizabeth Buchanan Ewing Davies on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. (Visitation at 10:00 a.m.) at the Town of Mount Royal United Church, 1800 Graham Blvd., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglington Avenue West, 16th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M4R 1K8 or online at alzheimer.ca/donatenow or call 1-800-616-8816.
