Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND HENRI BAUDRY June 10, 1934 - October 30, 2016 Fr. Ray Baudry died on Sunday, October 30, after more than 55 years as a priest serving the Archdiocese of St. Boniface. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Baudry; his sister Marguerite Ste. Marie and his brother-in-law George Ste. Marie. Fr. Baudry served mainly as a parish pastor, first at Holy Cross Parish, then at the parishes of St. Gerard, St. Bernadette, Holy Redeemer, and St. Timothy, until ill health forced him to rest. He also served on the Council of Priests, was instrumental in the formation of a joint Diaconate program with the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, spearheaded investigation into sexual abuse by priests in the diocese, and was involved with hearing the stories of residential school survivors. He helped establish the first Beginning Experience weekends of divorced, separated and widowed in Winnipeg, and also spent many hours listening to the fifth step of AA followers. He was a man of immense integrity and humility, and lived by a very humane, people-oriented code. He spoke up for what he believed was right and just, often challenging the status quo. His passions were various. He loved travel, reading, sports, music, theatre, good food and mostly, the natural world. He also had a wonderful sense of humour. He loved the people of the Church, and served them with his whole heart and soul eventually to the detriment of his health. His generosity had no bounds, whether it be his time or his resources. He had a "soft spot" for the troubled and marginalized: the grieving, the poor, the challenged. His door and often his pocket were always open to those in need. His greatest love, however, was for his family: his beloved sister Marguerite, who predeceased him by only two-and-a-half weeks, and his numerous nieces and nephews. Father Baudry spent more than four years being given loving care at Foyer Valade (Action Marguerite) Personal Care Home. His family is very grateful for the attentive care he received there. They would also like to thank Wanda Brockie, a constant and kind friend, for her care of Fr. Baudry over the past several years. His funeral was held at St. Boniface Cathedral, Friday, November 4 at 10:00 a.m. Should you wish to make a donation in his memory, please consider Agape Table, Siloam Mission or a charity of your choice. They that hope in the Lord Will renew their strength, They will soar As with wings of eagles Isaiah 40:31

As an early member of the Beginning Experience team, Father Ray Baudry was our spiritual guide. Ray was like Moses, leading the Israelites, (us, the hurt, the wounded), through the desert, (our Journey). He would often refer to the "campfire stories" as we each shared our lives, our faith stories. Ray Baudry invited all to be reconciled. He empowered us to go forth. Thank you Father Ray. - Posted by: Marge Winiarz (friend) on: Nov 07, 2016

Our sincerest sympathies A very special person who helped shape our view of faith, sensed when moral support or counsel was needed. A wonderful neighbor to us with a dry wit, a wonderful sense of humor and gentle patience. You baptized me, lent an ear to me, taught me and eventually married Linda and I. Father, you fought the good fight and the words here, hardly express our thoughts. Enjoy life eternal. In our hearts and minds always. Agostino & family. - Posted by: Austin Porco (Neighbor and friend) on: Nov 04, 2016

I am a Parishioner at St. Bernadette Parish and I fondly remember Father Baudry's time with us when he served as our Pastor. He was a lovely kind man who truly lived his faith every day. - Posted by: Karen Burwash (Parishioner at St. Bernadette Parish ) on: Nov 04, 2016

My deepest sympathies to Father Baudry's family and friends. I remember my friend well, since high school (1967>) at the St. Boniface Diocesan High School (Holy Cross), where he was our student Chaplin, with whom I had many talks as a teenager.....wise man. Then at St. Gerard's, St. Bernadette's and St. Timothy's parishes. Always happy to see each other. He played a great part of my younger years. I just spoke of him the other day. I know he will be sadly missed by more than anyone will ever know but he rests in peace now, in the arms of Our Loving Lord. Good bye my friend till we meet again. With much Love, Lucille. - Posted by: Lucille O'Sullivan (Montpetit) (Longtime friend) on: Nov 04, 2016

Fr. Ray became a very dear friend to our family since we met at St. Gerard's Parish many years ago. We kept in contact after moving from Wpg. and enjoyed many visits with him over the years. We saw the loving care he received at Foyer Valade and how much he missed his "friend" Zeke! We deeply regret not being at his final Farewell personally on Nov. 4, 2016, but we will be there in "Spirit". He will remain in our thoughts and prayers. God is Great, God is Good, We thank Him for the special memories that we will cherish forever. Our sincere Sympathy to his Nieces and Nephew. Rest in Peace Ray! - Posted by: Ron, Joanne and Carla Yustak (Friends Forever) on: Nov 04, 2016

We called him "Mon Oncle Ray". He married my parent, baptised my brother and I, assisted in the funeral service of my mom, came back to marry my step-mom and dad in Ottawa. He was always happy to see us, and gave great hugs. He will be missed by the Lambert family. My sympathy to his family and friends. - Posted by: Denis Lambert (Friend) on: Nov 03, 2016

I remember he was a very kind man. I did my First Reconciliation with Father Baudry, and attended Holy Redeemer when he was the priest there. I liked him a lot and will miss him. RIP. God rest his soul. - Posted by: Karen Jurkowski () on: Nov 03, 2016

We saw things differently and talked them out. He was at St Gerards when my daughter went to school there, first communion and confermation. I spent time with him as a member of the school board. I will miss him God keep him close . Our prayers go out to him. - Posted by: Ray Brunka (old friend) on: Nov 02, 2016

Fr. Raymond was a committed theologian and a friend of mine. Although we rarely connected, my first thought of him was he was the kind of man that would give one of his altar boys his own personal auto to take his drivers license test....and that was 50 years ago! Praise the Lord! I did pass! Thanks you father..... - Posted by: Donald Tomac (Former altar boy) on: Nov 02, 2016
