ERNEST (ERNIE) BRAUER 1935 - 2016 On the October 28, after a seven month battle with pancreatic cancer, Ernie passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital, in White Rock, BC, with his wife at his side. He is lovingly remembered by Lynn, his wife of 36 years; his daughter Veronica Benderski; his son Gordon; his grandchildren, Jayleen and Cassidy Benderski; his sister Brunhild Brauer-Irwin; and brother Birger (Peter), his brothers and sisters-in-law and their children and his "adopted" Segers family. Ernie's journey began in Hildesheim, Germany. At 17 years of age, he immigrated to Winnipeg, where he worked at various jobs until he began his career at Aetna Heating and Air Conditioning, then moved on to start his own company, Brauer Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd. He greatly enjoyed cottage life at Golden Acres and later at his own cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake. After retirement, Ernie and Lynn spent six winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ and made many wonderful, lasting friendships there. In 1987 they moved to South Surrey (White Rock) of BC. He loved the beauty of the area and often said upon returning home from a trip "I don't know why we go away, it's much nicer at home." Ernie was a proud member of the Khartum Shrine in Winnipeg, El Zaribah Shrine in Lake Havasu City and Gizeh Shrine in White Rock. Shriners Hospitals for Children was near and dear to his heart. His hobbies included cars, both antique and new, watching soccer, especially Manchester United, enjoying nature and playing Skat. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his loving family and network of wonderful friends from near and far. Special thanks to Dr. Charles King, the home care personnel and the exceptional staff at Peace Arch Hospital Hospice. You greatly helped ease Ernie's final journey. There will be no service at his request.
