Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARRY ALEXANDER WILLIAMSON December 6, 1936 - November 2, 2016 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Garry Williamson passed away November 2, 2016 at St. Boniface Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Chris, daughters Carolyn Wilkinson, Kathleen (Bob McGregor), son Jamie (Larry Giesbrecht), grandsons Michael and David (Thelma) Wilkinson, and great-grandsons Isaac and Daniel. Garry enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Transcona and at the family's summer cottage in Grand Beach. He left school after grade nine to work at the CNR shops. After an early marriage and the birth of his first daughter, Carolyn, Garry completed his high school education. His love for literature fed his ambition to become a teacher, so he pursued his passion at the University of Winnipeg while working full-time graveyard shifts at the CNR. While at university, Garry met the love of his life, Chris Ewy. They were married on January 7, 1967. After graduating with a BA (Hons), he taught English at Arthur Day Junior High for four years before moving to Springfield Collegiate, where he especially enjoyed teaching drama classes. He was fortunate to have a wonderful Principal, Mel Belluk, and great colleagues for two decades. After five years of teaching at Murdoch MacKay Collegiate, he began a wonderful retirement at age 60 that included plenty of golf, curling, and exploring North America and Europe. Garry was a wonderful, caring husband and father with a kind and gentle heart. He loved family camping trips, fishing with Kathleen and golfing with Jamie. He looked forward to his annual visits with Carolyn and the boys in Southern Ontario. Playing pool with his grandsons was a highlight for all of them. He was an exceptionally devoted son-in-law to Marianne Ewy, visiting and feeding her at Calvary Place PCH almost every evening for six years. Garry will always be loved and cherished by family and friends. In keeping with Garry's wishes, no service will be held. A private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Garry's memory to Parkinson Canada in Manitoba, 7-414 Westmount Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R2J 1P2. Winnipeg Cremation Service 204-981-1701

Mr. Williamson was my teacher at SCI. He also chaperoned our curling team in Ashern at the High School provincials. I will remember English Literature always - we may have tested his patience but we never saw him snap. All the best to the family. - Posted by: Jeannine Nicol Stotski (Student) on: Nov 12, 2016
