JOYCE JENNIE SCHMID (nee ODGER) May 19, 1931 - November 3, 2016 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Schmid. She was predeceased by Ken, her loving husband of 59 years (July 2016). Left to mourn her passing are her children, Brenda (Tom), Sandy (Doug), Brian, Diane (Glenn), Deb (Cam), Cindy, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joyce was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Joyce spent most of her career working as a clerk at Eatons, where she met and married the love of her life. Joyce had strong family values and traditions. She ensured the family was together, celebrating many times throughout the year. Joyce spent most of her summers at the cabin with her family and also enjoyed many gambling excursions with friends. The family would like to thank all the staff at Concordia Hospital and Riverview (3W) for their compassion, respect and heartfelt care. As per Joyce's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered at the lake. No formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
